Desert Herbs Chia Seed for Birds – Omega-3 & Fiber Supplement
Regular price $4.49 Save $-4.49Tiny seed with naturally concentrated nutrition
Desert Herbs Premium Chia Seed is an easy-to-serve whole seed for companion birds. Chia naturally provides plant-based omega-3 alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), fiber, energy and other nutrients. Sprinkle a modest amount over regular food or seeds to add texture and nutritional variety without replacing a complete avian diet.
Chia seed is naturally rich in alpha-linolenic acid, a plant-based omega-3 fatty acid that adds beneficial fat variety to a balanced feeding routine.
The seed’s naturally high fiber content supports dietary variety and complements a complete, species-appropriate food.
Chia contains fat, protein and carbohydrates that provide concentrated dietary energy, which is why a light sprinkle is enough.
Chia is a tiny whole seed that can be offered in moderation to many seed-eating companion birds and parrots.
Finches, canaries and budgies can manage the small seed without grinding.
Cockatiels, lovebirds, parrotlets and similarly sized companion birds.
Conures and larger parrots when used as a small topper rather than a major part of the diet.
Begin with a very small amount so the bird’s digestive system can adjust to the additional fiber and fat.
Scatter a modest amount over pellets, seed mix, soft food or another regular meal.
Remove wet or soiled food promptly, provide clean water daily and reseal the pouch after each use.
| Serving method | How to offer | Best practice |
|---|---|---|
| Dry food topper | Sprinkle a small amount over normal food or seeds | Keep chia supplemental to the complete diet |
| Mixed with soft food | Stir a small quantity into moist food immediately before serving | Remove leftovers promptly because moist food spoils quickly |
| Soaked chia | Prepare only a small fresh portion if advised for your bird | Refrigerate during preparation and discard uneaten gel promptly |
Whole chia seed (Salvia hispanica). Confirm the complete ingredient statement on the physical pouch.
4 oz (113 g) in a resealable stand-up pouch.
Reseal after opening and store in a cool, dry place away from moisture, heat and direct sunlight.
Many seed-eating companion birds and parrots can eat whole chia seed in moderation as supplemental dietary variety.
Chia naturally supplies alpha-linolenic acid, commonly called ALA, which is a plant-based omega-3 fatty acid.
No. Chia seeds are very small and may be offered whole. Sprinkle a modest amount over the bird’s normal food.
Soaking is optional, not required by the front label. If chia is served wet, prepare a small fresh portion and remove leftovers promptly to reduce spoilage.
The front package does not provide a measured daily serving. Begin with a light sprinkle and keep chia from replacing the bird’s nutritionally complete food.
Keep it tightly resealed in a cool, dry place away from moisture, heat and direct sunlight.

Dandelion leaf naturally contains calcium, iron and potassium, adding botanical variety to an enrichment-focused feeding routine.
Naturally occurring plant antioxidants and phytonutrients make dandelion leaf a colorful addition to a balanced, species-appropriate diet.
Offer a modest amount appropriate for your bird’s size, species and normal diet. Dandelion leaf can add natural variety for many seed-eating birds and parrots.
Finches, canaries, budgies and other small companion birds.
Cockatiels, lovebirds, parrotlets and similarly sized parrots.
Conures, African greys, amazons, macaws and other parrots when offered in moderation.
Introduce a small amount so your bird can become familiar with the aroma, texture and taste.
Offer in a separate clean dish for free-choice feeding or sprinkle lightly over regular food.
Remove wet or soiled herbs, clean the serving dish and provide fresh drinking water daily.
| Serving method | How to offer | Best practice |
|---|---|---|
| Free choice | Place a small amount in a separate clean treat dish | Let the bird explore without replacing its normal food |
| Food topper | Sprinkle a modest amount over pellets, seed or other regular food | Mix lightly and monitor acceptance |
| Foraging enrichment | Add a small amount to a clean, food-safe foraging setup | Keep the herb dry and remove contaminated material |
Dried dandelion leaf (Taraxacum officinale).
4 oz (113 g) in a resealable stand-up pouch.
Reseal after opening and store in a cool, dry place away from moisture, heat and direct sunlight.
It is dried dandelion leaf packaged as a supplemental botanical for companion birds. It may be offered free choice or sprinkled in a small amount over regular food.
Dandelion leaf may be offered in moderation to finches, canaries, budgies, cockatiels and parrots as part of a balanced, species-appropriate diet.
The product label highlights naturally occurring vitamins A, C and K; calcium; iron; potassium; and antioxidants. It does not state the amount of each nutrient per serving.
The package shown says to feed free choice but does not provide a measured dose. Start with a small amount, monitor acceptance and keep it supplemental to the normal diet.
No. It adds natural dietary variety but does not supply complete nutrition. Continue feeding the balanced food recommended for your bird’s species.
Keep the pouch tightly resealed in a cool, dry place away from moisture, heat and direct sunlight.

Desert Herbs Granulated Kelp for Birds – Natural Iodine & Mineral Supplement
Regular price $4.95 Save $-4.95Mineral-rich sea vegetable for companion birds
Desert Herbs Premium Granulated Kelp is a dried sea-vegetable supplement for companion birds. Naturally rich in trace minerals—including iodine—its easy-to-sprinkle granules add marine-sourced nutritional variety to food and seeds while supporting normal thyroid function, overall vitality and healthy feather condition.
Iodine is an essential trace mineral used by the body to make thyroid hormones. Kelp supplies naturally occurring iodine, so only a small amount should be used.
Whole kelp naturally contains a broad range of trace minerals that can add nutritional variety to an otherwise balanced avian feeding routine.
The package highlights support for healthy feathers and overall vitality as part of a complete, species-appropriate diet.
Granulated kelp may be used for many companion birds when offered sparingly and appropriately for the bird’s size and complete diet.
Finches, canaries and budgies need only a very light sprinkle because of their small body size.
Cockatiels, lovebirds, parrotlets and similarly sized parrots.
Conures and larger parrots when used conservatively alongside a balanced diet.
Check whether your bird’s pellets, mineral supplement or other foods already contain iodine or kelp.
Use a very small amount over food or seeds. Kelp is concentrated and should not coat or replace the regular diet.
Remove wet or soiled food, provide fresh water daily and discontinue use if your bird reacts poorly.
| Before offering | What to do | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Complete pelleted diet | Check the ingredient and nutrient information first | Many complete foods already contain iodine |
| Other supplements | Avoid stacking kelp with iodine or mineral products without guidance | Multiple sources can create excessive intake |
| Food or seeds | Apply only a light, even sprinkle | The package gives no measured serving amount |
Granulated kelp. Confirm the complete ingredient statement on the physical pouch before publishing.
4 oz (113 g) in a resealable stand-up pouch.
Reseal after opening and store in a cool, dry place away from moisture, heat and direct sunlight.
It is dried granulated kelp made for sprinkling in small amounts over a companion bird’s food or seeds as a source of marine trace minerals.
Yes. Kelp is a natural iodine source. The package does not state a measured iodine concentration, so it should be used conservatively rather than offered free choice.
Iodine is required for normal thyroid hormone production. This product can supply dietary iodine, but it is not a treatment for thyroid disease and should not be combined casually with other iodine sources.
The package shown says to sprinkle it on food and seeds but does not provide a measured serving. Use only a very light sprinkle and seek avian-veterinary guidance for repeated use, especially with a fortified diet.
No. This page does not recommend free-choice feeding because kelp contains concentrated iodine and the pouch does not state its iodine concentration.
Keep it tightly resealed in a cool, dry place away from moisture, heat and direct sunlight.

Desert Herbs Pau D'Arco Powder for Birds
Regular price $7.49 Save $-7.49Traditional South American botanical for companion birds
Desert Herbs Premium Pau D’Arco Powder is a finely ground botanical made for sprinkling over a companion bird’s food and seeds. Pau d’arco comes from the inner bark of a South American tree and contains naturally occurring plant compounds. The package highlights antioxidant, immune and respiratory wellness support as part of a balanced avian care routine.
Pau d’arco contains naturally occurring botanical compounds. The package describes the powder as rich in antioxidants for general nutritional variety.
The label positions Pau D’Arco Powder as supportive of normal immune health when used appropriately alongside complete nutrition and good husbandry.
The package highlights respiratory health support. This means general wellness support—not diagnosis or treatment of respiratory infection.
The label depicts small companion birds. Because a standardized avian serving is not shown, use should be conservative and appropriate for the bird’s size, health and complete diet.
Finches, canaries and budgies require especially conservative amounts.
Cockatiels, lovebirds, parrotlets and similarly sized companion birds.
Use for larger parrots only with guidance appropriate to the individual bird and its diet.
Review the complete pouch directions and speak with an avian veterinarian if your bird is ill, takes medication or has a chronic condition.
If appropriate for your bird, apply only a very light sprinkle over food or seeds rather than coating the entire meal.
Remove wet or soiled food and stop use if appetite, droppings, behavior or overall condition changes.
| Situation | Recommended approach | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Healthy bird, supplemental use | Follow the complete manufacturer directions and use sparingly | No measured serving is visible on the front pouch |
| Bird showing respiratory signs | Contact an avian veterinarian promptly | Herbs should not delay diagnosis or proven treatment |
| Medication, bleeding disorder or surgery | Do not use without veterinary approval | Pau d’arco may affect blood clotting or interact with treatment |
Pau d’arco powder. Confirm the botanical species, plant part and complete ingredient statement on the back of the physical pouch before publishing.
4 oz (113 g) in a resealable stand-up pouch.
Reseal after opening and store in a cool, dry place away from moisture, heat and direct sunlight.
It is a powdered tree-bark botanical sold as supplemental wellness support for companion birds and intended to be sprinkled over food or seeds.
No. The pouch uses the phrase “natural plant antibiotic,” but Pau d’arco is not equivalent to a veterinary antibiotic and should not be used to treat a suspected bacterial infection without an avian veterinarian.
No treatment claim is made on this page. Respiratory signs can have many causes and may become urgent. Seek avian-veterinary care rather than relying on a botanical powder.
A measured avian serving is not visible on the front label. Follow the complete package directions and obtain avian-veterinary guidance before repeated use.
This page does not recommend unrestricted free-choice access because a standardized avian dose and complete safety information were not available for verification.
Keep the pouch tightly resealed in a cool, dry place away from moisture, heat and direct sunlight.
